Up to the beginning of Shuri Ryusen
In 1951 Shuri-Ryusen's founder, Mr. Koto Yamaoka began his career of dyeing.
From this point on, as a dyeing expert, he created many works to become subjects that continued to question society.
Combining knowledge as a researcher of plant dyeing and ancient dyeing he continuted to lead the Japanese dyeing world foward.
Using the captial's refined Yuzen-dyeing techniques and the arsenal of natural dyes, while travelling to and from Okinawa, while reviving ancient dyeing, he opened the doorway to new dyeing possibilities.
Setting up his base of operations in Okinawa, in 1973, he established Shuri-Ryusen
Ryusen's place (position)
Chuzanmon was the first outer gate to Shurijo Castle and the beginning of Aijo-Ufumichi.
It was built in 1428 in the style of a Chinese turret gate.
It became known as Chuzanmon because of the tablet it bore engraved with two Chinese characters read as"Chuzan".
